Michelle Brown, Grant Coordinator

Michelle Brown is a 1985 graduate of Jersey Community High School. She is a life-long resident of Jersey County. She also attended West Elementary and the former Illini Junior High School. She credits her aspiration for becoming a teacher and later a principal to her parents, former teachers and principals.

Michelle attended Illinois State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle School Mathematics with a K-9 teaching certificate. She began her career in education as a substitute teacher and then in 1990 as a Fourth Grade teacher at Jerseyville East Elementary School. When Illini Jr. High changed to Illini Middle School in 1996, Michelle joined the staff at Illini as a 7th grade math teacher.

She earned her Masters Degree in Education Administration from SIU-Edwardsville in 1999. Her first administrative assignment was at Fieldon Elementary in the fall of 2000. She was building principal and Curriculum Enrichment teacher at Fieldon for 3 years. Her current assignment is building principal at Delhi Elementary with administrative duties at the Unit Office. Some of those duties include coordinating the federal Title grants, overseeing the elementary curriculum and related activities, and managing the school improvement planning process.
